Griswald...I Mean CLARK Family Vacation

Day 1 (Friday)
We left the house around 10am. On the road to the cabin. After traffic through Portland and Salem, lunch in Albany and approximately 6 hours on the road we arrive at the cabin. Jeff and Celia were already there and we started to unpack and ate a carb filled spaghetti dinner so we would be ready for the rim run/walks in the morning.

Day 2 (Saturday)
Up bright and early (around 5am) to head up to rim village at Crater Lake. Brad ran the 1/2 marathon and Jeff, Ceal and I did the 6.7 mile walk. My friend Lori and her friend Amelia came up for the weekend too. Here we all are at the start.
And at the finish.
Back to the cabin around lunch time. A BIG thank you goes out to Lewis and Angelee who had our babies back at the cabin. Claire Jean had a bit of a fever from teething so they had their work cut out for them. She mostly just wanted to snuggle, poor baby.
After dinner Owen had a chocolate...look at those hands.Day 3 (Sunday)
The men got up early to go fishing, the ladies did not. We slept in, hung out at the cabin and later met the fishermen for lunch at Diamond Lake. After lunch Lewis and Angelee headed home and we all went for a bike ride around Diamond Lake. Midway through our bike trip around the lake we stopped at the resort for ice cream...yum!
Day 4 (Monday)
Jeff and Ceal left after dinner Sunday night so today is our first day just the four of us at the cabin. We slept in yet again, till around 9am and then headed off to Foster Creek to do a little fishing. We packed a picnic lunch and had a great time. This was Claire's first day without a fever and the attitude that comes with and Owen James caught his first fish! After dinner we hit the hunting roads.
Here are the fishing pics. Owen had so much fun getting the Power Bait on, waiting (not long), reeling it in, and the release. We already had a bunch of trout back at the cabin from the boys Diamond Lake catch, so we let these ones go. So fun, so special for Owen and especially Sparky!
Here is the VIDEO of Owen's first fish. SOOOO exciting!

After we got back from our fishing adventure Brad and Sissy went down for an afternoon snoozer. Owen, the dogs and I headed to the island to play in the water and throw some rocks. Owen LOVES throwing rocks. He'll do it for hours.
After a short nap Daddy and Sissy joined us, revived.
Driving the hunting roads. Owen got to sit up front to "scout". We saw 2 deer (1 buck) and 2 grouse.
Day 5 (Tuesday)
We had a pretty relaxing day at the cabin. Brad and Owen started the day off with some fishing at the gorge, then we spent many more hours at the river, had ice cream at the ice cream shoppe and another evening drive on the hunting roads. We had some thunder and lightning late in the afternoon so Brad was excited to see if the deer and elk were moving around.
After more river fun Claire was ready for another cabin nap....so was Mommy.
While the girls were resting Owen and Daddy put together some puzzles. We haven't really done to many puzzles (especially small piece ones) until we got to the cabin. Apparently Owen digs them. We did every puzzle at the cabin.....twice!
Rested and ready for some more cabin dirt! They had so much fun playing in the cabin yard.Special pics! We are going to try to remember to get a picture of the kids on the cabin steps every trip we make. We have one from both of their first birthdays and here are the ones from this trip. These babies are so lucky to have this place in their blood. Our last super at the cabin, so sad. We cooked up the fish from Diamond Lake fishing trip. De-lish! After dinner we treated the kids to ice cream before we hit the hunting roads. Why do kids always pick blue...yuk!
Day 6 (Wednesday)
Wednesday morning we slept in again, surprising I know, got packed up, cleaned up the cabin and headed to our next stop. We hit the road, on to Klamath Falls to have dinner with the Smith's, Cousin Drew and "Uncle" Lewis and Angelee. We stayed just one night (way to short)!

I'm going to call this picture of the kids brushing their teeth before we left the cabin BEFORE.....
....and this one AFTER. Here are the kids all bathed up and watching a movie with best bud Logan.
Day 7 (Thursday)
We hung out all morning, the kids played with Cameron and Logan and then headed up the road to Bend for a visit with my Grammy. On our way out of town we stopped by Matt and Nicole's new property. Owen insists that it's "Loggy's property" (pretty cute really). I guess the reason we buy stuff like property is for our kids huh?
Logan showing Owen his property.
In Bend with Great Grandma Jean. We decided last minute, on the way to bend that we would cancel our camping trip to Prineville and just stay the night in Bend with Grammy and head home a day early. It really was a great decision. The kids had a blast with Great Gram!
Day 8 (Friday, our last day)
Owen James slept in one of Great Grandmas bunk beds for the first time and woke up in a great mood. We ate some breakfast packed up and headed out on our last adventure...The Woodburn Outlet Mall and then home. I will make it known that this last stop was actually Brad's idea, he wanted to check out the Under Armor store (It sucked by the way...cheaper at Cabela's).
The outlet mall the coolest petunia sculptures. This is just one....absolutley beautiful!
We had to stop at Cold Stone while we were at the oulet mall. This makes our third ice cream stop on our vacation......It was REAL hot:-)

  1. Looks like a super fun trip, and I don't know how you could have crammed any more fun into those days! Glad to hear Uncy Lewis changed Owie's diaper, too bad he didn't get him "clean enough"!. Hahaha.
